About

The Director of Projects ensures all projects stay on schedule, within budget, and to a high standard of quality. This role leads direct customer engagement around supply chain, budget, and resource constraints, oversees shop capacity planning, and leads, coaches, and develops the Project Management team to drive customer satisfaction, cost control, quality, and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Provide strategic leadership, mentorship, and support to the Project Management team
  • Foster a collaborative, continuous-learning culture within the department
  • Coach individual Project Managers on best practices and successful execution

Process Ownership

  • Develop, implement, and refine project management processes for greater efficiency
  • Use technology-driven tools to streamline workflows, resource allocation, and timelines
  • Monitor and optimize newly implemented processes over time
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to drive organization-wide process improvements
  • Lead the project team with clear guidance and structure for consistent delivery
  • Support change management initiatives tied to process improvements
  • Use performance metrics and data-driven insights to guide improvements
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, contractual obligations, and client requirements

Project Planning & Execution

  • Own and manage the Master Schedule, optimizing shop capacity and resources
  • Identify and mitigate risks throughout all project phases
  • Implement and monitor quality control measures, including corrective actions
  • Collaborate with drafting, engineering, production, and supply chain teams
  • Monitor budgets to ensure financial targets and profitability are met
  • Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities

Health & Safety

  • Champion a culture of safety and environmental responsibility
  • Ensure compliance with Makloc's health and safety policies

Qualifications

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field (required)
  • PMP or equivalent Project Management certification (required)
  • Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification an asset

Experience

  • 10+ years of Construction Project Management experience, including 5+ years in senior leadership
  • Proven track record managing large, complex projects profitably and to client satisfaction
  • Strong understanding of metal building systems and industry standards

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership, team development, and process improvement experience
  • Excellent business acumen, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills across teams and clients
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while ensuring financial stability
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with project management software and ERP systems preferred
